John 10:9 “I am the door, and the person who enters through me will be saved and will be able to come in and go out and find pasture.”
When I read this verse my mind immediately goes to the 23rd Psalm and the words of comfort found there. “The Lord is my shepherd I have everything I need.” (Psalm 23:1 NCV) As I put these two pieces of scripture together I am reassured and comforted. I am safe and secure in the pasture of the living God. I am one of his sheep and I’m safe from the thief who comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10 NIV) my life because I choose to listen to my shepherd’s voice and find rest in his green pasture.
In this lush pasture, He will be lead me beside still waters and will give me new strength. I know that I can trust my shepherd to lead me down paths that are right because I listen to his voice. When I get to a dark valley, I won’t be afraid because I know my shepherd will be with me and never leave my side. It is His gentle rod and walking stick that I feel leading me to safety and this brings me comfort and puts me at ease. My shepherd provides for my every need. I can feast at the table and be satisfied because of the provision of his hand.So, what about you…do you need a break from the “chaos” of the world outside? Why don’t you come and spend some time in the Shepherd’s lush green pasture. I know you will be blessed and refreshed if you do.
