  • Serve and “get rich”

Proverbs 11:25 (NIV) A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Proverbs 11:25 (HCSB) A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water.

Every time I see a verse on giving or service, my mind goes to Jesus in the upper room washing the disciples’ feet. He gave so much – he served all of his disciples – even the one who would betray him.

So what does that say to me? Do I honestly serve the people Jesus would have served? If He walked the earth today…would I serve the least of these (Matthew 25:45)? Do I serve the least of these?

As a follower of Christ, I must follow the example set by Jesus Christ. Jesus sacrificially served, and so must I…but do I?

In serving we “get rich” but it’s not as the world may see those words; we “get rich” by God’s standards. This means God will allow me to inherit the treasures stored up in heaven (Matthew 6:19 – 20)

WOW!  Heaven…Have you ever wondered what heaven will be like?  I can’t even fathom how it will look. What are you imagining in your mind?

So, are you changing to become more like Christ in all you do?

May I challenge you today to reflect on the words you say, the way you conduct yourself at work and home,  and the way you serve others.
